For installations away from the keel, place fairing
completely around the seachest.
DO NOT taper the leading and trailing edge of
the fairing to the hull (this will drag air bubbles
down
into the soundbeam). Run metal rods or
plates cut at a 45 degree angle from the fairing
to the hull to prevent hang-ups on wire rope and
deflect debris.
Cover the bottom of the fairing around the seachest.
This will help prevent turbulence caused by open
cavities.

BULBED BOW VESSELS
The bulb bow lifts water and draws air bubbles down
the keel. These bubbles spread widely over the bottom
of the vessel and interfere with sonar performance
WESMAR recommends using only the Long Stroke
Hydraulic Hoist in all bulbed bow vessels.
PART C: LEAD SCREW HOIST
BULBED BOW VESSELS DRAW DOWN AIR BUB-
BLES THAT CAN OBSCURE THE SOUNDBEAM.
LONG STROKE HOISTS GET BELOW THESE
BUBBLES.
INSTALLATION AWAY FROM KEEL
NOTE:
Vessel vibration is more critical
on lower frequency sonars (45kHz and
lower). This vibration can be transferred
to the soundome through the hollow fair-
ing. This vibration can be dampened by
fi lling the air cavity within the fairing
with oil. Oil fi lling ports can be installed
through the hull into the fore and aft fairing
compartments.
