Tap the supports down between the fi ns.
Tighten the support bolts around evenly.
9.0 ZINC
Install the zinc collar around the soundome tube. On the
6-inch soundome, the zinc is above the stainless steel sleeve.
On the 8-inch soundome the zinc is above the stainless steel
support. On the M18 the zinc collar is above the welded fl ange.
10.0 SPIDER ASSEMBLY M8 ONLY
The spider assembly comes in two parts. Bolt the spiders
to the soundome tube just above the zinc. The tefl on
shoes on the end can be fi led to fi t the inside diameter
of the seachest.
11.0 ASSEMBLE HYDRAULIC HOIST
UNIT TO SEACHEST
Locate the following markings on the soundome:
6-inch soundome, "FWD" stamped on the plastic bell
to indicate forward.
8-inch soundome, "AFT" that points to the fin on top
of the dome to indicate the stern.
10, 14, 15-inch soundomes, "FWD" stamped on the
side of the dome to indicate forward.
Make a mark on the soundome tube in line with the
FWD or AFT mark on the bell.
Use this as your reference for aligning the soun-
dome with the fore or aft of the vessel.
Place the neoprene gasket on the seachest flange.
Lower the soundome and hoist assembly into the
seachest with a block and tackle.
It may be necessary to file down the teflon shoes on
the spider assembly so it fits into the seachest on the
M8. The clearance around the spider assembly should
be greater than 3 mm (1/8 inch).
Position the soundome so that the mark you made on
top of the tube is lined up with the bow or stern of the
M8 HOIST
