7.0 TILT
7.1 Tilt, Sonar
The TILT angle of the sonar soundbeam can only be
changed when the soundbeam is scanning in sonar, full
or split screen. When the soundbeam is in the sonar
mode, the TILT switch will move the transducer from
4 degrees above horizontal to -90 degrees vertical. TILT
angle is displayed in the TILT Box located on the left
of the screen.
Note: TILT reading will go blank when scanning the
bottom, in profi le, and taking a vertical scan (thickness)
in sonar.
7.2 Tilt, Profi le
The TILT Switch has a second function. When the sound-
beam is in the profi le mode, the TILT Switch selects the
size of the Profi le Sector. By pushing down on the TILT
Switch, the profi le sector will reduce approximately 10
degrees for each toggle. Pushing up on the TILT Switch
increases the profi le sector.
8.0 BEARING
8.1 When operating in full screen sonar, 360 degree
scan, the BEARING Knob will position a BEARING
line around the screen. Relative BEARING to a target
can be determined by positioning the BEARING line
over the target. Relative BEARING is displayed in the
SCAN box to the left of the screen.
8.2 When scanning a sector in sonar, the BEARING
Knob will move the sector clockwise or counterclock-
wise around the screen. The BEARING line marks the
center of the sector.
8.3 When vertically scanning a school of fi sh for a
thickness view, the BEARING Knob will reposition
the vertical scan. Move the BEARING line over the
target to view the thickness. The leading edge, center
and tailing edge of a school can be profi led to validate
density.
