Make sure that the vise locking screws are loose and press the “Shift” key.
Holding the item in one hand, place the bottom of the item on the back plate centering it on
the plate using the circle markings as a guide and close the vise by holding down the right
arrow key. This exercise may need to be repeated a couple of times in order to center the
item as close as possible. The vise can be manually tightened further if needed by turning
the vise handle (located at the end of the vise on the right side). Take care not to over
tighten glass products.
If the item is tapered then the vise has to be tilted at an angle for the area to be engraved to
be as close to being perpendicular to the spindle as possible. Loosen the locking handle,
adjust and lock again.
