BASIC OPERATION
At points th roughout th is sec ti on, sp ecifi c v alues and conditi ons are given
for analysis of t he Varian test samples on Varian test columns . Your
analytical c olumn and application may require different values and
conditi ons. Please ascertain t he range of operating temperatures for your
analytical c olumn and make sure your settings are within this range.
Setting Carrier and Detector Gas Flow Rates
The following table indicates the typical values for carrier and detector gas flow
rates. For practical purposes a generalized carrier gas flow rate of 2 mL/min is
used for capillary columns. Note that the carrier gas and make-up combined
flow is typically 30 mL/min.
