Calibration—475
f.
Adjust the Square-Wave Generator for 5 divisions of a
100 kHz signal.
g. C HECK—Repeat step 31-d.
h. ADJU ST—C471 and C477 (see Fig. 5-18) with a
low-capacitance screwdriver, for the best flat-top waveform.
i. Move the test signal to CH 2 input.
j. Set the V E R T MODE switch to CH 2, the CH 2
AC-GND-DC switch to DC, and the CH 2 V O L T S /D IV
switch to 5 m V.
k.
Adjust the Square-Wave Generator for a 5 division
display of a 10 kHz signal.
I. CHECK—Repeat step 31-d.
m.
A DJU ST—R239, R475,
C471,
and
C477
(see
Fig. 5-17 & 5-18), for the best flat-top waveform.
n.
CAL A ID —Compromise the adjustment of R475,
C471, and C477 for the best response for both CH 1 and
CH 2.
o.
Disconnect the test setup from the Square-Wave
Generator to the CH 2 input.
p.
Connect the output of the Fast-Rise High-Amplitude
Pulse Generator (Type 109) to the CH 1 input via a 50 £2
5 ns GR cable, (2) X 10 GR attenuators, X 5 GR attenuator,
a 50 £2 GR termination, and a GR-to-BNC adapter.
q. Set the Pulse Generator polarity to + and the voltage
range to 50 V.
r. Adjust the Pulse Generator for five divisions of
deflection.
s.
C HECK—Repeat step 31-d.
t.
A DJU ST—C l 75, R175, C133, R133, Cl 12, and R112
(see Fig. 5-17), with a low-capacitance screwdriver, for the
best flat-top waveform.
u.
CAL A ID —C175 and R175 affect aberrations 10 ns
from the leading edge; C l33 and R133 affect aberrations
2 ns from the leading edge; Cl 12 and R 112 affect the front
corner aberrations.
v. Move the test signal to the CH 2 input.
w.
Set the V E R T MODE switch to CH 2 and adjust the
Pulse Generator for five divisions of deflection.
x. C HECK —Repeat step 31-d.
y. A D J U S T -C 2 7 5 , R275, C233, R233, C212, and R212
(see Fig. 5-17), with a low-capacitance screwdriver, for the
best flat-top waveform.
z. CAL A ID —C275 and R275 affect aberrations 10 ns
from the leading edge; C233 and R233 affect aberrations
2 ns from the leading edge; C212 and R212 affect the front
corner aberrations.
aa.
Disconnect the test setup.
32. Adjust CH 2 V O L T S /D IV Compensation
a. Set the V E R T MODE switch to CH 2, both AC-GND-
DC switches to DC, both V O L T S /D IV switches to 5 m V,
and the A T IM E /D IV switch to 0.2 ms.
b.
Connect the high-amplitude output of the Square-
Wave Generator (Type 106) to the CH 2 input via a
GR-to-BNC adapter, 42-inch 50 12 BNC cable, X 10 BNC
attenuator, 50 12 BNC termination, and a 20 pF normalizer.
c.
Adjust the Square-Wave Generator for a five division
display of a 1 kHz signal. Add or remove attenuators as
necessary to maintain a five division display throughout this
step.
d.
C HECK —CRT display for flat-top waveform with no
more than 2% overshoot or roll-off on the leading edge.
e.
A D JU ST—CIO (see Fig. 5-19) with a low-capacitance
screwdriver for best flat-top waveform.
f. Turn the CH 2 V O L T S /D IV switch to 2 mV.
