If tests are conducted under load, the load measuring equipment must also function perfectly.

CAUTION

Danger of injury and possible material damage caused by unexpected crane movements 
Unexpected jerk movements may occur during operation with sway control. There is the 

danger of injury to unprotected persons. Unsecured objects can be damaged.
● Protect yourself against unexpected movements (e.g. by wearing a safety harness or 

standing in a secure position).

● Secure freely movable objects to prevent them from slipping.

CAUTION

Danger of injury and possible material damage due to failure to consider safety functions
If the safety functions are not taken into consideration, uncontrolled crane movements are 

possible which can result in personal injury and material damage.
● Implement the safety functions of the crane independently of sway control. Take 

appropriate action.

● Always consider the safety functions in the crane control system.

CAUTION

of the sway control system
If the error messages are not taken into consideration, uncontrolled crane movements are 

possible which can result in personal injury and material damage.
● The PLC programmer is obliged to evaluate the error messages of the 

sway control system. 

Ensure that the following requirements for commissioning of sway control are fulfilled:
1. All the drives to be controlled and the hoist must be functional.
2. All components of the system must be installed, connected, functional, and interconnected.
3. Preparation of the PLC program (see Preparing the PLC program (Page 322))
4. Preparation of the converters (see Preparing the converters (Page 322))
5. Start of the diagnostic program and establishment of the connection between the 

commissioning PC and the sway control system (see Design and operation (Page 264))

6. Setting of the language of the diagnostic program (see Setting the language (Page 323)) 

and the access code (see Setting the access code (Page 323))

7. Checking of the communication between the PLC and the sway control system 

(see Checking of the communication between PLC and SIMOTION (Page 324))
