Set a sheet of white A3 or W letter size paper on the document
table as shown below.

Make a normal (100%) copy.

Measure the widths of the leading and trailing edges of the copy.

If the black belt width at the leading edge (La) and the black belt
width (Lb) at the trailing edge are the same, 

there is no need of adjustment. (You can ignore steps 4 

∼

Loosen the screws securing the rear frame mirror base drive pul-
ley.

If La > Lb, turn the rear frame mirror base drive pulley in the
direction of A. (Do not move either of the flange or the mirror base
drive shaft.)

If La < Lb, turn the rear  frame mirror base drive pulley in the
direction of B. (Do not move either of the flange or the mirror base
drive shaft.)

Tighten the screw securing the mirror base drive pulley.

(4) Adjusting distortion in lateral direction

If a copy image has a distortion in the lateral direction (or squareness
against the scanning direction) without showing any distortion in the
mirror base scanning direction, adjust the 2nd mirror base unit rail
height. 

This adjustment should be performed if the phenomenon given below
appears.

Preparing adjustment document

Draw two lines correctly 10 mm away in parallel with each edge of
a sheet of A3 or W letter size white paper.

Make a normal (100%) copy on a sheet of A3 or W letter size
paper.

Measure the following distances (La, Lb, Lc, and Ld) in the illustra-
tion below.

Adjustment

Adjust by moving the mirror base B rail height up and down (in the
direction of indicated by the big arrow).

If La > Lb, move the paper exit-side mirror base B rail upward by
half the difference between La and Lb.

If La < Lb, move the paper exit-side mirror base B rail downward
by half the difference between Lb and La.

Example: If La is 12 mm and Lb is 9 mm, move the paper exit-

side mirror base B rail 1.5 mm upward.
