Getting Started 1146.2078.62 ─ 09
ary 2015 with FMR11. Instruments with FMR6 do not support Windows 7; see the pre-
vious chapter. The procedure for setting the screen resolution when using an external
monitor is the same for the different computer models and is described below.
The default factory setting supports clone mode of the internal and, if connected, exter-
nal VGA screen and means that both screens show the same picture. In this mode, the
screen resolution cannot be changed and remains fixed at the resolution of the internal
screen, i.e. 800 x 600 pixels.
Instruments with FMR9
support an external monitor with
analog interface at the MONITOR port or with digital interface at the DVI
‑
D port on the
rear of the instrument. Switchover takes place automatically after the instrument is
switched off/on.
Instruments with FMR11
also support these two monitor interfaces;
however, a setting in the BIOS must be made for connection of a digital monitor to the
DVI interface. The VGA output is then deactivated. The setting in the BIOS is made as
follows:
Switching over instruments with FMR11 to external digital monitor
1. Switch off R&S UPV.
2. Connect the external monitor, keyboard and mouse.
3. Switch on R&S UPV.
4. Immediately after switching on, press the Del key repeatedly at short intervals until
the BIOS screen appears.
5. In the horizontal menu bar, select "Chipset", then select "System Agent (SA) Con-
figuration", "Graphic Configuration", "LCD Control" and "Secondary IGFX Boot Dis-
play" and there set "DVI".
6. Save the settings and exit BIOS.
The digital monitor is now detected.
If it is necessary to switch back to the analog monitor output, this is done in the
same way but by setting "CTR".
Setting external monitor resolution to higher than 800 x 600 pixels
1. Switch off R&S UPV.
2. Connect the external monitor, keyboard and mouse.
3. Switch on R&S UPV.
4. After starting the R&S UPV, exit or minimize the UPV program by clicking on the
buttons on the right in the title bar.
5. Right
‑
click the desktop to open the context menu and then select "Graphics
Options" and"Output To".
6. If the external monitor is connected to the VGA output: Select "Monitor". If the
external monitor is connected to the DVI
‑
D output: Select "Digital Display".
Switch off the internal LC screen and switch on the external monitor if it was previ-
ously switched off.
