6-2 Link Control with Code Reader
This product can be connected with a commercially available code reader via the RS-232C port. The code reader linkage
function allows for control of the laser marker according to the contents of the code read by the code reader.
Items to control by the code reader linkage function are listed below.
Switch the file
Prepare a code that contains the file number or name.
When you read the code symbol, the file which has the identical number or name with the code strings is selected by the
laser marker.
Change characters to mark or character data of the bar code/2D code to mark.
Prepare a code that contains the characters to mark.
Once the code is read, transfer the code string to the specified object number and change the characters to mark.
If the bar code/2D code is set for the specified object number, change the input characters of the code to mark.

When the marking start trigger is input, marking is performed based on the data read by the code reader

• Characters that can be used for the code to read are alphanumeric characters and symbols in the range of ASCII code
20(HEX) to 7E(HEX).
• It is also possible to extract a part of the read code and transfer to the laser marker. Refer to “6-2-5 Setting of code
reader linkage functions” (P.158) for this setting.
• File switching and character transfer of the code reader linkage function cannot be used at the same time.
• The code reader linkage function can be used while the laser marker is under the remote control mode or run mode.
