Attention!
When making the final extension damping adjustment, make sure that the leg still com
-
pletely extends with each step.
The integrated spring extension assist has no knee stabilizing effect. When fine-tuning
the swing phase and the gait pattern, it must always be ensured that the extension stop
is fully reached with each step.
Attention – Please inform your patients!
The knee joint function may be affected by both environmental and service conditions. To
reduce risk for the patient, the knee joint should not be used when noticeable functional
changes occur. Noticeable functional changes may include poor response, incomplete
extension, diminished swing phase control or stance phase stability, abnormal noises, etc.
Action to be taken
Have the prosthesis examined at a specialist workshop.
When using the knee joint do not reach into the joint mechanism since there is the risk
of injury.
4.4. Replacing the extension assist spring
The knee joint is equipped with an extension assist spring that promotes the extension of the
prosthetic lower leg in the swing phase.
If need be, the scope of this assistance can be considerably
reduced
by replacing the extension
assist spring.
To replace the spring, undo the end cap at the lower end of the joint (Fig. 5) and remove the
heavy-duty compression spring (Fig. 1, (7)). Then insert the light-duty compression spring (Fig. 1,
(7a)) (included in delivery). Finally, fully retighten the end cap.
For assembly sequence and arrangement of the components please refer to figure 6.
Attention!
After switching to the light-duty compression spring, ensure that the leg still extends fully
at each step. The pneumatic swing phase control will have to be re-adjusted during the
gait test (see section 5.2).

might be necessary.
