Connect UPS Using the I/O Connector
The I/O connector of the AMR Controller:
• receives the power status of the UPS with the UPS Mode Input when the AMR Controller has a Win-
dows operating system. For other operating systems this input is not functional.
• indicates the power status of the AMR Controller to the UPS with the Power Status Output.
Additional Information
• A UPS connection using the I/O connector is only possible for a AMR Controller with a Win-
dows operating system. For all other operating systems use the USB connector to connect
the UPS.

• The AMR Controller does not react automatically to the UPS Mode Input.
A custom software program is required to shut down the AMR Controller when needed.
UPS Drivers and the required software is available.
• For AMR Controllers with Windows 10 or Windows 7 preinstalled:
• Drivers for the S8BA UPS are pre-installed
• Installation files and manual for the UPS Settings Utility are availabe in the installer directory
D:\OMRON-NY\Installers\ UPS Settings Utility
• For all other AMR Controllers following software can be downloaded:
• Drivers for the S8BA UPS from this OMRON website.
• Installation files and manual for the UPS Settings Utility (Windows only) from this OMRON web-
site.
Precautions for Safe Use
• Always use the recommended uninterruptible power supply (UPS) to prevent data loss and
other system file integrity issues caused by unexpected power interruption.
• Use an Omron S8BA UPS with the correct revision number to prevent improper system shut-
down.
• Correctly perform wiring and setting, and ensure that the shutdown by the UPS can be exe-
cuted.
Follow the steps below to connect the S8BA UPS to the I/O connector of the AMR Controller and to
configure it correctly.

Ensure the revision number of the UPS is correct.

For AMR Controllers that do not have Windows pre-installed: Download the above mentioned
software.

Wire the S8BA UPS.
1) Wire the input of the UPS to the output of the Power Supply.
2) Wire the output of the UPS to the power connector of the AMR Controller.
3) Ground the UPS.
