User’s Guide 0318-00002 Ver. 2.0 Dec 2008 – Page 40
At a lower temperature, ShieldPRO batteries last for a shorter period.
Batteries should be fully charged if possible. Only partly charging and recharging a battery may
affect the lifespan of the battery.
When using external power, leave the battery installed in ShieldPRO. This allows the battery to
be kept in the fully charged state.
If ShieldPRO is not used for a long period (two weeks or longer), remove the battery from
ShieldPRO and store separately.
To remove the battery, ensure there is no contact between the battery pins and any conductors
including metals and water. Shorting of the pins may damage the battery.
Store the battery at a low-temperature and in a dry place. Do not leave the battery in a place
where the temperature exceeds 60ºC.
Do not leave the battery for three months or longer without recharging.
The battery lifespan specified in the brochure and User’s Guide is calculated based on the
battery operation time measurement method (Ver. 1.0) defined by the Japan Electronics and
Information Technology Industries Association. The actual battery lifespan varies depending on
the operation environment, peripheral devices, the brightness of the LCD display and the
system settings.
