Using Recovery Disks to reload system
In the case where restoring Last Known Good Configuration does not help, nor does invoking the
System Restore, it may be necessary to reload the factory defaults provided by the Recovery Disk
CD’s.
Reloading using the Recovery Disks will erase all existing data that is on the HDD and then load
the factory default operating system. Backup all data files to an external device prior to starting the
reload. Note that the second partition (D:\) will be erased and recreated during reloading.
After reloading using the Recovery Disks, all of the delivered drivers will already be installed. (In the
case where Windows is re-installed, none of the drivers would be installed.)
Notes on reloading from Recovery Disks:
Where possible make a backup of data prior to reloading from Recovery Disks.
Reloading from Recovery Disks will erase all of the data you have created.
Write down the customised settings of ShieldPRO before starting reloading.
Reloading returns all settings including network settings to the factory defaults.
Remove peripheral devices purchased separately from ShieldPRO (except USB CD Drive).
Carry out reloading with only the devices connected to ShieldPRO that were the ones shipped with it.
Peripheral devices purchased separately should not be connected to ShieldPRO during reloading.
If a supervisor password is set, cancel the supervisor password or change the BIOS SETUP as follows:
Select [Security]
[Password on boot]
[Disabled].
For the supervisor password, see "6.4.1 Security".
Do not suspend during reloading.
After starting reloading, be sure to complete it according to the procedure described in this guide. If
suspended, restart the reloading from the beginning.
Install applications purchased separately after completion of reloading.
All applications purchased separately are also erased by reloading. Install them after reloading is
completed.
