7. Installing OS and Applications
7.1.
Windows XP Pre-installed Model
The standard ShieldPRO has Microsoft Windows XP Professional installed at the factory to be
automatically booted at power-on.
The pre-installed model of ShieldPRO has a Microsoft Windows XP Professional license label
(COA label) pasted on the bottom of ShieldPRO.
The label includes some important information including "Product ID". Make sure the label is not
damaged, broken or peeled off.
The Microsoft Windows XP Professional license label (COA label) will not be re-issued if it is damaged,
broken or peeled off.
NOTE:
Because the COA label is partially transparent and not laminated, it may appear to have a hole
or be damaged. However, this does not indicate that the label is damaged. The transparent part of the
label may have a unique shape due to special processing that makes it different from others.
Note that Windows XP installed in ShieldPRO does not support upgrading/downgrading by Microsoft.
7.1.1.
Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2
The Operating System installed on the Windows XP pre-installed model of ShieldPRO is "Microsoft
Windows XP Service Pack 2" (called Service Pack 2 below).
Service Pack 2 includes a set of programs designed to improve or correct faults and problems
found after the first issue of Windows XP.
Do not delete Service Pack 2 from ShieldPRO.
Some device drivers are only available to Service Pack 2. Deleting Service Pack 2 may cause some
drivers to operate incorrectly.
