5.5.
Battery
The battery provides an independent power supply to ShieldPRO. The battery can be recharged
using the AC adapter, the optional battery charger FC-N013 (Customised option) or the optional car
adapter FC-N014 (Customised option).
ShieldPRO can be operated without AC power when the charged battery is installed.
WARNING
The provided battery is designed to be used in this product only. Do not use the battery
for any other device.
Do not use any other battery than the provided battery for this product. Failure to follow
this instruction may cause a fire and/or electric shock.
To charge the battery, install it in ShieldPRO for charging or use dedicated charger.
Charging with another method may cause a fire and/or electric shock.
Do not short-circuit the battery.
Do not heat the battery or place it in or near a flame.
Do not disassemble the battery. Doing so may cause a fire and/or an electric shock.
Do not drop the battery. Doing so may cause damage to the battery.
Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions. See “5.5.5 Recycling Batteries”
The life of a fully charged battery varies depending on the environment and condition in which
ShieldPRO is used. The battery life may be shortened if applications access peripheral devices
frequently.
Make sure that if you are relying on the battery, regularly check the remaining battery level.
5.5.1.
Installing and Replacing the Battery
Before the battery can be used for the first time, it should be charged. The battery is not charged at time of
shipping.
If a battery of an invalid type is substituted for the one provided, it may cause an explosion. Always keep
a spare battery of the type specified. For used batteries, see "5.5.5 Recycling Batteries".
Do not disassemble batteries.
Repeat charging and discharging of a battery causes it’s charging ability to decrease.
If the full discharging time shortens, refresh the battery. See” 5.5.3 Refreshing the Battery”. If the
operational time still cannot be recovered, replace the battery with a spare.
1. Leave ShieldPRO in the power-off state and disconnect the AC adapter.
2. Turn ShieldPRO upside down.
