Translator
To enable the Translator function, select Translator from the Settings Menu. In certain applications, the
VX150 to VX2 may be used as a translator to re-broadcast primary information as a secondary station
on an alternate frequency. To allow the secondary station to be identified, you can set station ID
parameters such as call sign, FSK polarity, deviation and repeat interval.
See Figure 2.2.105 on page 2.2.127 . Use the Front Panel rotary knob to edit the slider setting to Enabled
(I) and press the Front Panel rotary knob to select. The Translator slider will turn green when enabled.
Pressing the Back button will exit the Translator menu.
Use the Front Panel rotary knob to edit the FSK parameters and press the Front Panel rotary knob to
select.
This menu has five (5) sub-menu options:
• FSK ID Enable - enables (ON) or disables (OFF) the station ID feature.
• FSK Call Sign - sets the station’s call sign letters.
• FSK Deviation Polarity - sets the polarity of the carrier shift. Select either Positive or Negative.
• FSK Deviation Frequency - sets the amount of carrier shift from the original carrier frequency.
Select a value between 5 kHz and 25 kHz.
• FSK Repeat Interval - determines how often the call sign is broadcast using FSK (recommended
at least once per hour). Select a value between 1 and 60 minutes.
