MAINTENANCE PRACTICES
1. Slim
−
Line Instrument Panel
(Ref. Figure 201 thru Figure 205) The Slim-
Line instrument panels are installed on most
369D model helicopters. Three versions of this
panel are in use. The instrument panels
contain all standard flight, navigation and
engine instruments, except the canopy-located
outside air temperature gauge and the
duct-mounted magnetic compass. Caution and
warning lights and an audible warning horn
are mounted at the top of the instrument
panel. Contour-molded thermoplastic fairings
and a hood enclose the instrument panel.
Electrical control switches, circuit breakers,
key switch, etc., are not covered in this section
(Ref. Sec. 96-30-00 for information).
On helicopters serial number 950 and subse
quent, an automatic engine reignition system
(Ref. Sec. 96-10-00) is included.
Provisions are incorporated in the panel face
for installation of VHF/UHF communications
equipment, navigation aid equipment,
instruments, and controls for optional equip
ment installed at other locations on the
helicopter. (Ref. Table 202, Sec. 01-00-00 for a
list of options.)
(Ref. Figure 203 or Figure 204) The instru
ment panel is riveted to the upper instrument
panel support. The instrument panel/upper
support assembly is removable from the lower
instrument panel support structure as a unit.
A. Slim

Line Instrument Panel Fairings
(Ref. Figure 205) The three fairings around the
instrument panel are molded thermoplastic
enclosures. Removal of side fairings provides
access to shut-off valve controls, electrical and
indicating system components and any
optional avionics equipment mounted on the
instrument panel or panel support structure.
B. Slim

Line Instrument Panel Hood
(Ref. Figure 203 or Figure 204) The hood is a
molded thermoplastic enclosure which covers
the upper portion of the vertical panel face.
The hood is secured to the instrument console
at side and top edges of the hood. Built-in
panel post-type lights on the hood provide
illumination for all standard instruments and
indicators, except the separate magnetic
compass and optional clock. Panel lights are
part of the night lighting system (Ref. Sec.
96-40-00) that is standard equipment. (Ref.
Sec. 95-30-00 for information on dimming
circuits for panel lights.)

Maintenance
Maintain the instrument panel and supporting
structure according to Section 20-20-00
(Cleaning), Section 20-40-00 (Corrosion
Control) and Section 20-30-00 (Paint Finish),
and Fuselage Sheet Metal Repair paragraphs
in the Structural Repair Manual.
2. Hood and Fairing Replacement
A. Hood and Fairing Removal
(Ref. Figure 203 or Figure 204 and Figure 205)
NOTE:
Face-attachment screws and two panel
light knife splices must be disconnected be
fore hood removal.
(1). Remove hood attaching hardware;
remove hood.
(2). Remove or release fasteners joining two
side fairings.
(3). Detach side fairings from canopy
structure by releasing fasteners.
(4). Disconnect and tag-identify electrical
leads from light/switch and horn
housing; then remove center fairing.
(5). If required, remove attaching hardware
and horn and light assembly from
center fairing.
