REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. Chip Detector Circuits Replacement
(Ref. Sec. 12-00-00, Main Rotor Transmission
Draining, Tail Rotor Transmission Draining
and Engine Oil System Draining for removal
and installation instructions.)
2. Tachometer Indicating Systems
Maintenance Procedures
(Ref. Sec. 95-00-00, Instrument Replacement,
Instrument Inspection, and Instrument
Repair)
NOTE:
(Effectivity: 369D/E/FF - 500N)
D
Dual tach indicators stored in excess of 12
months must be returned to an approved
repair station for functional test prior to
being installed in a helicopter.
D
Dual tach indicators stored in excess of 24
months must be returned to an approved
repair station for re-lubrication and func
tional testing prior to installation in a he
licopter.
D
If it cannot be determined how long an af
fected dual tach indicator has been in
storage, the indicator must be returned to
an approved repair station for re-lubrica
tion and functional testing prior to instal
lation in a helicopter.
3. Tachometer Generator Replacement
Following instructions are typical and apply to
all three tachometer generators.
(1). For access to generators, open engine
access doors or air inlet and tail rotor
drive shaft access door, as applicable.
(2). Disconnect electrical connector from
generator. Cap and stow if replacement
is not imminent.
(3). Disconnect bonding jumper.
(4). Disconnect and remove tachometer
generator from mounting pad. Discard
gasket if unserviceable.
(5). Install and secure generator with
gasket, attaching hardware and
bonding jumper. Generator-to-mount
ing pad electrical bond is required.
(6). Connect electrical connector to genera
tor.
(7). Close access door(s).
4. TOT Indicator Maintenance Procedures
(Ref. Sec. 95-00-00, Instrument Replacement,
Instrument Inspection and Instrument Repair)
5. Thermocouple Wiring Harness
Maintenance Procedure
A one-piece thermocouple wiring harness
connects the engine thermocouple harness
from the engine terminal block (TC300) to
resistor board TB9 at the back of the TOT
indicator. Maintain the engine thermocouple
wiring harness according to instructions in the
applicable Allison Engine Operation and
Maintenance Manual (Ref. Sec. 01-00-00,

terminals using crimping tool (ST1008).
To ensure proper calibration
and operation of the TOT sys
tem, alumel and chromel terminals must be
correctly installed.
(2). After completion of any repair, adjust
