(5). Connect electrical connectors power
lead splice and ground lead.
Reversed polarity connections
can cause damage to this equip
ment. For connection information, refer to
wiring diagram (Ref. Sec. 96-00-00).
(6). Check strobe anticollision lights
operation.
4. Interior Lighting System
A. Instrument Panel Lights Description and
Replacement
NOTE:
Slim line and T-panels are unique and
have different configurations for each ver
sion and applications. Refer to Chapter 95
for applicable instrument panel and asso
ciated components.
(1). Illumination is blue/white on the
instrument Panel.
(2). The instrument panel lighting is
controlled by a switch potentiometer
and (if installed) dimmer control unit.
(3). Individual instruments and indicators
are illuminated by postlights.
(4). Three postlights illuminate the three-
pack instrument cluster.
(5). An exception is the magnetic compass,
which is internally illuminated.
(6). The edgelighted panels have lighting
elements embedded in the plastic
covers to illuminate the panel openings
and markings for controls.
(7). The edgelighted panels are used with
circuit breakers, switches and controls.
B. Postlight Lamp Replacement
(1). Ensure all power is off.
(2). Pull out on postlight until it detaches
from instrument panel.
(3). Remove lamp from lamp cap and prism.
(4). Insert new lamp and press postlight
back into instrument panel.
C. Edgelighted Panel Replacement
NOTE:
Failure of an embedded lighting circuit
requires replacement of the plastic panel.
(1). Remove edgelighted panel as follows:
(a). Ensure all power is off.
(b). Remove screws and washers attach
ing panel.
NOTE:
The edgelighted panel receives power
from a plug-in electrical connector on the
back of the panel.
(c). Carefully pull panel out to disengage
connector on back of panel.
(2). Install edgelighted panel as follows:
(a). Ensure all power is off.
(b). Position panel in place and carefully
push in to engage connector on back
of panel.
Do not overtighten screws, dam
age to edgelighted panel can oc
cur.
(c). Insert screws and washers attaching
panel and gently tighten until panel
is snug.
D. Instrument Panel Postlight Replacement
(Ref. Figure 207) Postlights are attached to the
face of the hood. Replace postlights as follows:
(1). Ensure that all electrical power is OFF.
(2). Disconnect instrument post-light wire
splices and attaching hardware.
(3). Remove attaching hardware that
secures post-light and ground termi
nals.
(4). Disconnect post-light at splice and
remove from instrument panel.
(5). Install replacement post-light in
reverse order of removal.
(6). Check post-light illumination.
E. Pilot’s Utility Light
(Ref. The pilot's utility light is an adjustable
light fixture, secured to the map case mounted
beside the upper canted frame on the mast
