Hydraulic Oil Requirements
The hydraulic system is filled wit
h a Shell Tellus S2 V 46 premium h
ydraulic oil. This hydraulic oil is
recommended for a broad range of operating” temperatures but the end user is ultimately responsible
for determining if the oil is” appropriate for their specific operating conditions or if another hydraulic oil
is required. To” ensure the longest life for this piece of equipment, it is critical to maintain the hydraulic
oil” at the proper level, to keep the hydraulic fluid clean (see Hydraulic Maintenance section),” and to
avoid overheating the oil.
The oil for the hydraulic system performs multiple functions. While the hydraulic oil must” transmit power
and provide superior lubrication under high pressure, there are other” properties that are critical to the
oil and the performance of the equipment. These include,” but are not limited to, wear protection, oil
oxidation, rust and corrosion protection and” foaming. To guide in the selection of the proper oil, refer to
Oil Viscosity Selection Chart” on page 260
