16.4.1 Testing preparations / replacement of drive motors
•
Remove battery boxes.
•
Remove splash protection.
•
Remove cable binders
•
For the motor to be checked or replaced,
remove the connecting plug (1) from the
power module connection bar (2).
Note
:
Press in the plug lock in order not to damage the plug.
16.4.2 Testing drive motor
Only basis tests can be performed on the drive motors. Any further tests are only possible by
means of special testing devices.
The following components of the drive motors can be tested using the Multimeter:
•
motor coils for continuity
•
motor brakes for resistance
Hints for Testing:
If the following tests do not show any results, the drive unit should be sent in to the factory for
testing. Any further measuring can only be performed by the INVACARE Service Department.
Visual inspection of the plug contacts:
Check whether the plug contacts are
unacceptably bent up, pushed back or oxidised.
Testing the electric circuit of the motor:
•
Set the Multimeter to continuity check or
resistance measuring.
•
Measure the continuity or resistance (R
req
=
0
Ω
) of the motor circuitry between the
connector plug contacts shown in the
adjacent sketch.
Note
:
Information on the use of the Multimeter can be taken from the relevant user's manual.
