12.1.1 Disassembly of the steering wheel suspension and steering wheels
•
Use a suitable support (such as a wooden block) to prop the vehicle up so that the steering
wheels are not loaded.
•
Remove slider (1) from the housing for front wheel suspension (6).
•
Load the vehicle (if necessary, support on frames) so that the locking washer (2) can be
levered out of the groove in the front wheel suspension axle (10) with a suitable tool such
as a screwdriver when not under load.
Caution
:
Risk of accidents: Unburden the vehicle slowly. Compression spring (9) is under
stress!
•
The front wheel fork (14) and the housing for front wheel suspension (6) are now separated.
Detach bush (7), spring plate (8), compression spring (9), bush (11), spring box (12) and
rubber ring (13) from the front wheel fork (14).
•
Guide a suitable pin (
∅
6 mm !) through the drillhole (14) in the axle for front wheel
suspension (10) and use it as a lever for countering when loosening the hexagon nut (19)
(SW 19).
Note:
The diameter of the pin must be 6 mm, since in case of lower diameters, the material at
ends of the drillhole (14) would become expanded in the unscrewing process. In that
case, the axle for front wheel suspension (10) could not be used anymore, since it
would not be able to turn smoothly in the housing precision bore for front wheel
suspension.
•
Loosen hexagon head screw (17) and hexagon nut (15) by means of a ring spanner (SW
17).
•
Pull out hexagon head screw (17) with washer (16) and take wheel (20) out of the front
wheel fork (14).
•
Take out axle for front wheel suspension (10), spring box (12) and rubber ring (13).
•
Detach housing for front wheel suspension (6) by loosening the countersunk Allen screws
(4) from the frame tube.
12.1.2 Reassembly of the steering wheel suspension and steering wheels
•
Reassembly takes place in the reverse order.
