Troubleshooting
This chapter provides general troubleshooting procedures,
including how to use the HX50 and HX100 remote terminal
light-emitting diodes (LEDs) to troubleshoot problems with the
unit. This chapter contains the following troubleshooting
scenarios and topics.

Initial troubleshooting
steps
When troubleshooting connectivity problems between the remote
terminal and the network behind the HX GTWY, perform these
initial steps:
1. Connect the Ethernet port of the computer you will use for
troubleshooting directly to the LAN1 port of the remote
terminal (or whichever LAN port on the unit has an assigned
IP address, as indicated on the System Info screen of the
System Control Center), bypassing any network equipment at
the remote site. Be sure to configure the network settings on
the computer correctly, as described in Appendix B.
2. On the computer connected to the remote terminal, disable
firewall, intrusion detection/prevention, or any other software
designed to block or alter network traffic.
3. Retest to confirm that the problem still exists.
If the above steps resolve the issue, troubleshoot problems in the
remote network and/or client security software configuration. If
the problem remains, continue with the troubleshooting steps in
this chapter.
