Function description of the temperature control unit
3.1.1
General functions
Unistats
are
extremely dynamic temperature control units
designed for both
externally closed
(see
page 35 in section
»Connecting an externally closed application«
), and also for
externally open
applications (see page 35 in section
»Connecting an externally open application (bath)«
). Unlike
conventional bath and circulation thermostats however, these temperature control units have no
internal bath
.
These temperature control units are mainly offered for high heating loads. They are also equipped
with a cooling water connection for lowering the temperature and to compensate self-heating. The
cooling capacity controller
only exists for the Unistat Series
w HT
.
A
passively tempered >Expansion vessel<
[18] is used instead of a tempering bath that is used in
conventional bath and circulation thermostats to compensate the expansion of the thermal fluid
according to the temperature.
Due to the
low internal volume
combined with
efficient heating technology
, the w HT temperature
control units achieve
short cooling/heating rates
when compared to conventional bath and circula-
tion thermostats.
3.1.2
Other functions
The
speed-controlled pump
that is integrated into the table-top models and some free-standing
models enables the
speed
or the
pressure
of the thermal fluid to be controlled and hence optimally
matched to the specified application. On free-standing models with higher pump capacities, this
function can be performed by external, optional accessories.
The
self-optimizing cascade control
delivers
optimal controller results
for regulating levels up and
down, both with
setpoint changes
and also with
exothermic reactions
. Temperature control can be
either a-periodic or with a slight overshoot (faster).
The
Ethernet, USB device and USB host interfaces supplied as standard with “Pilot ONE”
, as well as
the
Pt100, ECS and POKO interfaces at the “Unistat Control ONE”
enable the temperature control
units to be seamlessly integrated into numerous automated laboratory systems.
The
removable control panel (“Pilot ONE”)
can also be used as a
remote control
. Please contact
your dealer or Huber Sales Department if you need an extension cable. The telephone number of
the Huber Sales Department can be found on page 98 in Section
.
A
connection jack for Pt100 process controller sensor
enables you to accomplish
external tempera-
ture control tasks
with ease.
The temperature control unit is fitted with an
integrated temperature ramp function
and an
inter-
nal temperature programmer
. The integrated programmer offers the option of creating and re-
calling 10 different temperature control programs with a total of 100 program steps.
The temperature control unit has
overtemperature protection to DIN EN 61010-2-010, independ-
ent
of the control circuit itself.
