4 User Interface Conventions
4.1 Select items from a list
Single item
Click the item.
Multiple contiguous items Click a start point in the list, press <Shift>, click an end point in the list, and all items between start
and end are selected.
Multiple non-contiguous
items

Press and hold <Ctrl> and click each item.

<Close> or <X> also closes a window without executing the actions or implementing parame‐
ters.
4.2 Cancel
[Cancel] closes a window without executing the actions or implementing parameters described
on a window.
4.3 Button and text appearance
Buttons that are gray are inactive.

White Background
Settings updated by the user display with a white background.
Underlined Text
Text fields that can be changed are underlined.
Anchored Popover
Click the icon next to the parameter to open.

Red Outline
For updated settings that are invalid, the background is highlighted white with a red outline, and the
settings collection is flagged with an alert icon notifying the user. [Confirm Settings] is also disabled.
