Specimen Slide Removal / Replacement
INTRODUCTION
The specimen slide controls the vertical position of
the specimen relative to the x-ray source.
There are 2 methods of removing the specimen
slide:
A.) Remove rotary stage first, then only remove the
specimen slide, OR
B.) Remove the entire rotary stage and specimen
slide assembly (together), and then separate
the specimen slide from the rotary stage (this
method may be easier than separating the
specimen slide from the rotary stage in the
small confines of the open door).
Both methods are described below.

X-ray shielding contains lead and lead compounds, chemicals known (to the State of California) to
cause cancer and other reproductive harm. Wear gloves when handling shielding and wash hands
after handling.
