8. Using 9/64” ball driver, remove back two
screws
from below . Remove source.
9. Remove the collimator from the old source and
install it on the new source - 3 hex screws need
to be removed.
WARNING There are 3 washers on each
screw separating the tube from the collimator.
They may fall out as you are removing the
collimator. These washers must be properly
replaced in the new source - the 3 washers
separating tube from collimator provide the
needed spacing for cooling. This prevents tube
damage and early failure.
LEXAN COLLIMATOR WINDOW The lexan collimator window that is found between the
source and the collimator should be discarded if it is present. It gets yellow and brittle, and may
affect image quality.
REPLACE
1. Place source on adjusting plate.
2. With plate flat, insert and tighten two rear screws into adjusting plate from below.
3. Tilt adjusting plate, insert and tighten two front screws.
4. Re-grease top of four posts as required.
5. Locate and place adjusting plate onto two dowels.
6. Insert and loosely tighten four screws, lockwashers and flatwashers.
7. SNUG - DO NOT TIGHTEN THE TWO SCREWS BENEATH THE COOLING TUBE. These
are inaccessible after the cooling tube has been replaced.
FOLLOW-ON PROCEDURES
Replace shields, case and panels. X-Ray Source calibration is required (see Chapter 7).
Two back screws need to be tightened after calibration using t-handle through top of shield.
Note: When calibrating, the collimator may need to be filed down should black spots appear on the edges
in Fluoro (NOT black edges as seen before masking). This is due to the different cone angles for
each source.
