The tool is extremely delicate. Fine adjustments are required. DO NOT overtighten the screws.
One screw turns clockwise and the other turns counter clockwise. Turn the screws in tandem
using as little torque as possible (i.e. 5° at a time).
25. Once adjusted, rotate the ball 180° and check the Dial Indicator reading. It should match the
reading taken after the adjustment in the previous step (e.g. .0002").
26. Re-zero the Dial Indicator.
27. Use the
Rotation
setting to rotate the ball 360° (180° at a time). Re-zero the Dial Indicator, if
necessary. Watch as the ball is rotating to ensure that the tip of the Precision Dial Indicator is
touching the ball at all points of rotation and that it is not pegged.
28. Rotate the ball 180° and confirm the Dial Indicator reads zero.
29. Rotate the ball 90°.

30. Carefully adjust the 2 screws that are aligned with the Dial Indicator until the Dial Indicator
reads zero.
31. Rotate the ball 180° and verify that the Dial Indicator still reads zero.
Note:
Fine tuning may be required. Continue to make adjustments until the ball can rotate 360°
without the Dial Indicator moving more than .0002".
32. Once the ball has been centred, remove the Dial Indicator Mount and Precision Dial Indicator.
33. Select
Magnification
in the Motor field and move the ball 70mm toward the X-Ray Source.
