Removing Sheath Gas, Nebulizer and Nitrox Mass Flow Controllers
Figure 5-15 - Positioning of MFCs within gas control box
1.
Remove covers as outlined in section 5.5.1, page 47 to reach gas box assembly.
2.
Perform steps 1-2 of sample introduction PCB replacement procedure.
3.
Loosen the two screws securing the MFC bracket to the instrument body.
4.
Pull the MFC bracket slightly forward, and disconnect gas inlet lines, gas outlet
lines, and serial cables from each MFC.
5.
To remove the MFCs from the bracket, remove the two screws underneath each
MFC.
6.
When replacing or swapping MFCs, ensure that gas inlet and outlet lines are
connected in the proper direction of MFC flow.
NOTE
Clearly mark each cable, or take a photo before removing for easy identification.
Sheath and nebulizer MFCs are NOT interchangeable with nitrox MFC. To replace
the assembly, use the same procedures in reverse.
NOTICE
Do not attempt calibration of the mass flow controller in the field. If you detect a
gross error in the flow rate, you must replace the defective flow control valve with a
factory calibrated spare.
