Quadrupole
Controller
PlasmaQuant MS Series
172
1.
Disable the quadrupole controller via the Aspect MS diagnostics software.
2.
Disconnect the voltmeter from the quadrupole controller.
3.
Toggle the switch, SW402, to the operate position. The switch is in the operate
position when it is toggled upwards or closest to the DIP switch, SW401.
4.
Replace the resonation cover of the quadrupole controller.
NOTICE
Do not attempt the resonation procedure with the potentiometer RV401 in the
maximum position (rotated completely clockwise). RV401 is the manual RF level
control when the quadrupole controller is configured for CAL mode using SW401. As
the rotational position of RV401 nears maximum, the quadrupole-power amplifier
nears saturation. The resonation adjustments will be unreliable.
When in CAL mode the mass-command control, and hence the RF drive signal to the
quadrupole-software control, is replaced with operator controlled via RV401.
Although the mass-command-control signals from the system control PCB are over-
ridden in CAL mode, the RF error-detection electronics and standing wave ratio
(SWR) electronics is not.
