The Alarm System
Alarm messages are assigned to three priority classes
by Julian, depending on their urgency, and identified
by exclamation marks:
!!! Warning = Category I / High Priority Message
A high priority alarm is a signal which
indicates a condition requiring
immediate action.
!! Caution = Category II / Medium Priority Message
A medium priority alarm is a signal
which indicates a condition requiring
prompt action.
! Advisory = Category III / Low Priority Message
A low priority alarm is a signal
which indicates a condition that
requires operator awareness but not
necessarily action.
NOTE: If several alarms occur simultaneously, Julian
displays the alarm with the highest priority. The others
are not displayed.
The alarm lights will start flashing or will light up
continuously accompanied by an alarm tone sequence
whenever an alarm is displayed.
When an alarm threshold has been violated, the alarm
limits menu is opened automatically. The respective
alarm limit is highlighted and can be adjusted immedi-
ately and /or be confirmed with the dial knob.
Warning:
1 Red light flashes, accompanied by a continuous
audible alarm.
Caution:
1 Yellow light flashes, accompanied by an intermittent
audible alarm every 30 seconds.
Advisory:
1 Yellow light is lit continuously, accompanied by a
single audible alarm.
2 A list of all active Warning, Caution, and Advisory
messages, in order of priority, can be displayed by
pressing the »alarm info« menu key.
WARNING !
Warning or Caution level audible alarms
require immediate operator attention to avert
or to prevent development of situations with
the possibility of patient injury.
