Communicating With the Modem
Communicating With the Modem
DIGITAL recommends that you use the Access Server Manager application to
configure the modem or send commands directly to the modem. If necessary, you can
communicate with the modem using a local or remote console.
To communicate directly with the modem using the console port, complete the
following steps. For more information about DNAS command syntax, see the Network
Access Server Command Reference manual.
Example
This example shows how to establish a service on modem port 1 called modems,
connect to the service, and enter a modem command. The modem responds with OK,
indicating it is ready to receive additional commands.
Local> SET SERVICE modems PORTS 1 CONNECTIONS ENABLED
Local> CONNECT modems
Local> AT
OK
When you are done communicating with the modem, press the Break key to return to
the Local> prompt. Then, type Disconnect at the Local> prompt.

Set up a service on the target modem port using the SET SERVICE
CONNECTIONS ENABLED command.

Connect to the service using the CONNECT command.
