Configuring the Modem
6-6 Configuring the Modem Ports Using the Access Server Manager
6
On the Commands page, set the following modem commands, if
required. In most cases, you can accept the default settings.
•
Factory Init — Resets the modem to factory default settings.
•
DSR follows connect — Sets the DSR (Data Set Ready) state when
a connection is established.
•
Auto Answer enabled — Tells the modem to answer incoming calls.
•
Result Codes — Causes the modem to display verbose (rather than
numeric) result codes.
•
No DTR disconnects — Requires a DTR (Data Terminal Ready)
signal to be present in order for the modem to accept commands and
causes the modem to hang up if the DTR is not present.
•
Save configuration — Tells the modem to save the modem settings
to a user profile (commonly referred to in modem documentation as
NVRAM locations) and to use that user profile for initialization
when powering up or resetting the modem.
•
Port Speed — If your modem requires a command to lock the serial
port speed, check this box.
•
Lock Speed — If the Port Speed command required box is
checked, enter the command your modem uses to lock port speed.
•
Extra settings — Commands for any additional modem settings that
are necessary. No additional commands are required for most
modems used with access servers.
Click on OK when you have finished or click on the Configure tab.
