Flight Management System
The flight management system (FMS), in
conjunction with other interfacing
equipment on the aircraft, provides
automatic navigation guidance, map
display, and in-flight performance
optimization. It eliminates many routine tasks
and computations normally performed by
the flight crew.
When coupled to the autopilot, flight
director, and auto throttles, the system
provides guidance for controlling roll, pitch,
and engine thrust.
