3. Rem ove latch retaining screws and w ithdraw latch and
co n tro l rod.
4. Rem ove spring clip retaining rod to latch.
Installation
1. Install latch rod to latch.
NOTE:
When reinstalling the lower latch rod to
control, the short straight section attaches to the
latch.
2.
Install latch and ro d assem bly into do o r and connect rod
to rem ote control.
3. Install latch retaining screws and torque to specifications.
4. A djust latch to strikers.
Rear Door Outside Handle
Removal
1. Rem ove trim panel.
2.
R em ove door handle retaining screws, handle and gaskets.
Installation
1. A pply grease to rem ote co n tro l w here handle plunger
m akes contact.
2.
Install handle and gaskets. T orque screws to specifi
cations.
3. Install trim panel.
Rear Door Lock Cylinder
Removal
1. R em ove trim panel.
2.
Rem ove rem ote control.
3. Rem ove lock cylinder retainer and lock cylinder.
Installation
1. Install lock cylinder and retainer.
2. Install rem ote control. T orque screws to specifications.
3. Install trim panel.
Rear Door Glass and Weatherstrip
Removal and installation procedures are the same as for the
b o d y side windows. R efer to those procedures for rear door
glass and w eatherstrip replacem ent.
Rear Door Adjustments
N O T E :
Door adjustments are provided by slotted
holes, at hinge attachm ent, in body and door.
1. Rem ove or loosen door strikers and wedges.
2. Loosen door hinge b o lts and adjust door to provide equal
clearances betw een b o d y and door around perim eter o f
door.
3. A djust door in and o u t so th a t door panel is flush w ith
body.
4. Install door strikers and wedges and adjust as outlined
u nder door striker adjustm ent.
Rear Door Striker Adjustment
N O T E :
This striker to body fastener is an im por
tan t attaching part in th at it could affect the
performance o f vital components and systems, and/
or could result in major repair expense. It must be
replaced w ith one o f the same part number or w ith
an equivalent part if replacement becomes neces
sary. Do not use a replacement part o f lesser quality
or substitute design. Torque values must be used as
specified during reassembly to assure proper reten
tion o f this part.
