3. Rem ove clutch pedal and sh aft, if m anual transm ission,
or shaft if au to m atic transm ission and low er brake pedal
from pedal bracket.
4. Rem ove pedal retu rn spring.
Installation
1. Install pedal retu rn spring and positio n the pedal in the
bracket.
2. Install th e pedal shaft.
3. Install shaft retain er, if au to m atic transm ission or clutch
lever if m anual transm ission.
4. Install the push ro d to th e brake pedal w ith clevis pin and
install clevis pin retainer.
N O T E : The push rod clevis attaches to the brake
pedal upper hole if manual brakes and to the lower
hole if power brakes. The stop lamp switch striker
fits the opposite hole in either condition above.

5. C heck the brake pedal free travel and stop lam p sw itch
o p eration and adjust if necessary.
PARKING BRAKE
Pedal Removal
1. Rem ove bolt and n u t securing th e fro n t cable clam p to
the parking brake assem bly.
2. Rem ove c o tte r pin fro m clevis pin.
3. R em ove n u ts from dash panel an d screw from in stru m en t
panel and remove assem bly.
Installation
1. Make sure th at the spacer betw een the in stru m en t panel
and parking brake assem bly is in place before installing
screw.

2. Install in reverse o rder o f rem oval. Install th e dash n u ts
and in stru m en t panel screw and torq u e the dash n u ts
before to rquing th e in stru m e n t panel screw.
N O T E : Install the clevis pin so th at the cotter pin
hole is to w ard the center o f the vehicle.

FRO NT CABLE
Removal
1. Rem ove b o lt and n u t securing th e fro n t cable clam p to
th e parking brake assem bly.
2. Rem ove c o tte r pin from clevis pin.

3. Push the ru b b er grom m et (dash panel to fro n t cable) o u t
o f the dash panel.
4. Raise vehicle on a hoist.
5. Remove th e fro n t cable to cross m em ber spring.
6
. Remove the jam nut an d adjusting n u t from the front
cable at the equalizer.
7. Rem ove th e clips securing the parking brake fro n t cable
and speedo cable to the vehicle.
8
. Com press locking fingers a t cross m em ber and w ithdraw
fro n t cable from th e vehicle.
Installation
1. Install th e fro n t cable by pushing th e locking fingers
through th e cross sill an d check to be sure the cable is
secure.
2. R oute th e cable along th e side rail and through the hole
in the dash panel. Install ru b b er grom m et.
3. Install the clevis pin to w a rd th e center o f the vehicle and
install a c o tte r pin.

4. Secure th e cable to the bo d y clips.
5. W ith equalizer installed on th e center cable; push the
fro n t cable through the equalizer hole.

. Install the adjusting n u t and adjust the parking brake as
n o te d in this section.

7. Install the jam n u t to the adjusting n ut.
