What causes poor printing?

Printing on the wrong side of special print media
●
Ink supply from an ink tank is low or exhausted
●
The print head is clogged
●
The print head is worn out or damaged
Here is a general summary of the actions you should
take to confirm the source of the problem.

Identifying the problem
• When ink supply in an ink tank runs low, the
BJ Status Monitor will display an ink low
alert. Replace the empty ink tank.
• If the BJ Status Monitor is not available,
open the front cover and check the level of
ink in the ink tanks. If an ink tank has run out
of ink, replace it.

Is the paper or special media loaded correctly
with the print side up?
Some special media have only one correct print side.
For details refer to the instructions that you received
with the media package.
Is one or more ink tank out of ink?
On the Maintenance sheet, click the Start Status
Monitor button and click the Ink Information tab.
Confirm the ink level and replace the ink tank if the
ink level is low.
