Chapter 4 Using the Printer Driver
62
Adjusting the print quality and halftoning (cont.)
●
Halftoning
Printing is done by ejecting dots of ink onto paper. The
method of arranging these dots is called halftoning.
You may not be able to select some of the Halftoning
settings, depending on the Print Quality setting.
Auto
Click this check box on to have the printer driver
determine the type of data in the document and
automatically select the best halftoning method for the
print job. If you click this check box off, you can select
one of three settings:
Fine (Fast)
Simplifies halftoning processing for high-speed
printing. Select Fine (Fast) for text or tables.
Fine
Smoothes different colours with a constant pattern of
dots. Select to render a wide range of colours into
intermediate tones to make colour boundaries
sharper.
Diffusion
Smoothes different colours with a random pattern of
dots. Creates fine gradations of colour, and provides
the most faithful reproduction of colour in a
photograph or other images with fine gradation of
colour.
