RAM AIR SCOOP AND FAN SHROUD:
ULYSSES
Removal
1.
. Remove fasteners securing the outer
ram air scoop to the inner ram air scoop.
NOTE
After removing fasteners securing the inner ram air scoop to
the fuel tank/frame, it will be necessary to detach the Oxygen
Sensor connector from the inside of the scoop.
2.
Remove fasteners securing the inner ram air scoop to the
fuel tank/frame.
3.
Remove front oxygen sensor connector. See

Remove seat.
NOTE
Remove saddlebags and brackets if required. See
.
Disconnect negative (-) battery cable first. If positive (+)
cable should contact ground with negative (-) cable con-
nected, the resulting sparks can cause a battery explosion,
which could result in death or serious injury. (00049a)

. Disconnect battery
cables from battery: negative cable (7) (black) first.
6.
Remove battery.
7.
Disconnect ECM connectors [10] and [11].
8.
Remove battery pan.
a.
Remove ECM (3). See
b.
Disconnect rear brake light switch connector [121].
c.
Remove fuse block and relay center (4).
d.
Remove main harness and plastic grommet (6) from
battery pan.
e.
Remove fasteners securing battery pan to left and
right tail section.
f.
Lift battery pan straight up and out.
9.
Remove the trunk pan.
a.
. Remove the two
fasteners securing the preload adjuster to the trunk
pan (13).
b.
Remove the shock reservoir fastener and retainer.
Push the reservoir aside to access the fastener.
c.
Remove remaining fasteners securing front trunk pan
to side tail sections.
d.
Remove remaining components on trunk pan as
needed.
10. Remove fan shroud.
Installation
1.
Install fan shroud. See

Install the trunk pan.
a.
See
. Install the two
fasteners securing the preload adjuster to the trunk
pan (13) and tighten to 36-60 in-lbs (4.1-6.8 Nm).
b.
Install the shock reservoir fastener and retainer and
tighten fastener to 80-88 in-lbs (9-10 Nm). Push the
reservoir aside to access the fastener.
c.
Install fasteners securing front trunk pan to side tail
sections and tighten to 72-96 in-lbs (8-11 Nm).
d.
Install the rear trunk pan fasteners and tighten to
48-72 in-lbs (5-8 Nm).
e.
Install remaining components on trunk pan as needed.
3.
Install battery pan and tighten fasteners to 72-96 in-lbs
(8-11 Nm) .

b.
Connect rear brake light switch connector [121].
c.
Install fuse block and relay center (4).
d.
Install main harness and plastic grommet (6) from
battery pan.
NOTE
Before installing fasteners securing the nner ram air scoop to
the fuel tank/frame, it will be necessary to attach the Oxygen
Sensor wire to the inside of the scoop.
4.
Install fasteners securing the inner ram air scoop to the
fuel tank/frame and tighten to 12-36 in-lbs (1.4-4 Nm).
5.
Install fasteners securing the outer ram air scoop to the
inner ram air scoop and tighten to 22-26 in-lbs (2.4-3 Nm)
