5.12 Metering
The seed is carried in the seed hopper. The seed goes into the seed housing through adjustable
openings (Fig. 51/1). Each seed housing has two openings. The openings are adjusted with the
coarse metering wheel sliding shutter (Fig. 51/2) and the fine metering wheel sliding shutter (Fig. 51/3).
The seed is metered either by the coarse meter-
ing wheel (Fig. 51/4) or the fine metering wheel
(Fig. 51/5). Both of the metering wheels always
rotate. The seed supply is interrupted to the me-
tering wheel that is not required. The corre-
sponding sliding shutter seals the hopper open-
ing.
The metering wheel conveys the seed to the
edge of the bottom flap (Fig. 51/6). The metered
seed travels through the seed tube to the seed-
ing coulter.

Before beginning seeding,
the following values, depending on the seed type, must be taken from the Table "Setting values"
(page 68) and set:
Coarse metering wheel, fine metering wheel or bean metering wheel
Sliding shutter position
Bottom flap position
Agitator shaft support.
the seeding rate must be calibrated.
If the seed is not listed in the "Setting values" table (page 68), take the setting values for a seed with a
similar shape and size.
