12.5.2 Adjusting the tramline control
Each metering wheel (Fig. 253/1) has a hexagon
socket screw (Fig. 253/2).
When the hexagon socket screw latches into the
groove of the seeding shaft (SS), the metering
wheel is driven by the seeding shaft.
Fig. 253
Tramline metering wheels are driven by a pair of
gear wheels. The gear wheel (Fig. 254/1) on the
lay shaft (LS) drives the gear wheel (Fig. 254/2)
on the seeding shaft (SS). When creating tram-
lines, the lay shaft (LS) does not rotate. The
tramline metering wheels (Fig. 254/3) do not
spread any seed.
The hexagon socket screw (Fig. 254/4) of the
gear wheel (Fig. 254/1) engages in the groove of
the lay shaft (LS).
To prevent damage, the hexagon socket screws
(Fig. 254/5) of the gear wheel (Fig. 254/2) and
metering wheel (Fig. 254/3) on the seeding shaft
(SS) may not engage in the groove of the seed-
ing shaft.
Fig. 254
When you make settings on the tramline control, you must then
check the hexagon socket screws for proper seating on the metering
wheels and gear wheels (see Table, Fig. 255), to prevent damage
caused by simultaneously driving the seeding shaft and lay shaft.
