Checklist VDI 6022 - planning, installation & maintenance
The water supplied to humidification shall comply with the
microbiological requirements for drinking water.
All parts and material shall during manufacturing to installation
and during maintenance and operation, be handled in such a
manner as to avoid the proliferation of microorganisms.
All material should be provide in a manner so that it not provide a
nutrient substrate for microorganisms.
No material that provide a nutrient substrate is allowed.
System need to be equipped with a condensate tray sloping
towards the drain with a siphon with trap.
Drain system must not be connected directly to municipal
sewage system.
Installation shall be accessible for the purposes of the required
inspection and cleaning work.

Installed in a way to prevent microbial growth.
•
Material should be permanently resistant to corrosion.
•
There must be installed lights in the humidification chamber.
•
Inspection window with minimum diameter of 150mm.
•
Service and inspection door suitable for daily inspection and maintenance.
- Easy access to all humidifying components.
- Door size and position must be selected in planning stage.
•
No external light must enter into the wet/spray champer.
•
Light condition on/off shall be possible to recognise from outside.
Service system according to user guide.
In case of ventilation shotdown, costumer shall provide a signal
that shut down the humidifier.
Humidifier chamber shall be blown dry before intended shutdowns.
Bacteriological critical limits.
•
Legionella <100 CFU / 100ml - in direct humidified water.
•
<1000 CFU / ml - in direct humidified water.
•
Legionella <1000 / 100ml - recooling plants.
•
<10000 CFU / ml - recooling plants.
Humidifiers must not be installed immediately upstream of filters
or silencers.
Prevent humidity beyond planned wet areas.
Filters in areas with humidity > 80 % may cause problems.
No filters in areas with humidity > 90 %.
Preheaters and afterheaters shall be so dimensioned that a relative
humidity of 90% is not exceeded downstream of the humidifier line.
Requirements regarding operation and maintenance.
•
Follow general guidance in system guide and user manual.
Signal from the ventilation system must stop the humidification if
the ventilation is stopped.
