V6100 and V7122 User Guide
Establishing a Serial Communications Link with the V7122
Use serial communication software (e.g., HyperTerminal
TM
) to establish a serial
communications link with the V7122 via the RS-232 connection. You can use this link to
change the networking parameters (
Assigning an IP Address Using the CLI
) and to receive
error / notification messages.
An RS-232 connector isn’t available on the TP-260 board.
To establish a serial communications link with the V7122 via the RS-232 port:
1
Connect the RS-232 port to your PC (For the V7122 / TP-1610, see
Connecting the RS-
232 Port to Your PC
. For the V6100, see
Connecting the V6100 RS-232 Port to Your
PC
).
2
Use a serial communication software (e.g., HyperTerminal
TM
) with the following
communications port settings:
Baud Rate:
115,200 bps
Data bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop bits: 1
Flow control: None
After resetting the gateway, the information, shown in
Figure 93
, appears on the
terminal screen. This information can be used to determine possible V7122
initialization problems, such as incorrectly defined (or undefined) local IP address,
subnet mask, etc.
