the device in such a manner in the normal mode, as this will shorten its service life.
After stopping the device, wait for it to cool down, remove the auger and extension, if used, and proceed with maintenance.
Working with the earth auger
Grab the earth auger by both handles, rest the auger on the ground and start drilling. The auger is equipped with a tip that looks
like a regular drill bit, and allows for a precise selection of the opening centre. Allow the tip of the auger to sink into the soil and
then gradually immerse the auger blades. When driving the auger blades into the soil, take into account the force that will want to
rotate the earth auger in the opposite direction to the auger rotation. Adopt a posture and ensure a grip that will prevent the loss
of control of the device.
The auger is shaped in such a manner that the excavated material will be transported to the soil surface; however, it is recom-
mended to remove the entire auger from the soil from time to time to remove the excavated material. Caution! When using the
extension, the excavated material is transported only to the top of the auger. The extension is not equipped with an auger that
will allow the excavated material to be transported to the surface. In the case of drilling with the extension, the auger should be
removed from the hole much more often in order to dispose of the excavated material.
If the auger stops during operation, immediately turn o
ff
the device and check the reason for the auger rotation stoppage, e.g. an
obstacle in the soil. It is forbidden to resume operation without removing the cause of the auger stop.
When drilling the hole, the auger should be guided straight. Do not tilt it, as it may lead to its stopping or even damage.
Take regular breaks during work.
Due to the fuel supply, it may not be possible to work in every position of the earth auger.
MAINTENANCE AND INSPECTIONS
Before starting any activities described below, turn o
ff
the device. Make sure that the engine is cooled down.
Disconnect the
sparking plug cable to avoid accidental starting of the device.
Replacing and maintaining the sparking plug (X)
Remove the sparking plug rubber cover, disconnect the cable, and remove the sparking plug with the spanner for sparking plugs.
Check the condition of the sparking plug electrodes. The distance between the electrodes should be within the range of 0.6 – 0.7
mm. In case of noticing dirt, try to clean the sparking plug electrodes with a brass wire brush. If the cleaning does not bring the
expected results, replace the sparking plug with a new one.
Check the condition of the sparking plug at least once a month.
Maintaining the air
fi
lter (XI)
Maintain the air
fi
lter after each use of the device.
Unscrew the screw supporting the
fi
lter cover and remove the cover.
Remove the
fi
lter and rinse it with warm water with soap.
Dry the
fi
lter thoroughly and install it back in place.
Screw the
fi
lter cover back in.
Other maintenance activities
After each use, also check the general condition of the device. Tighten loose screw connections. Check
whether there are no fuel leaks. Make sure that the ventilation openings are clear. Check that all covers and housings are
in good technical condition, free from cracks or other damage. Before proceeding with any work, remove any
observed faults. Clean ventilation openings with a stream of compressed air at a pressure of not more than 0.3 MPa or use a soft
paintbrush or brush with soft plastic bristles.
Maintaining the silencer and exhaust system
Depending on the fuel, oil and mixture ratio used, carbon deposit or soot may accumulate in the silencer and
exhaust system. This may cause a decrease in the performance of the device. In order to restore the previous performance, it is
necessary to hand over the
device to the manufacturer’s authorised service centre.
Maintaining the auger and extension
Carry out the maintenance of the auger and extension each time after work is
fi
nished. Remove the auger and extension from the
earth auger prior to maintenance. Thoroughly clean the auger and extension of soil residues, e.g. with a brush. Coat the cleaned
auger and extension with a thin layer of corrosion protection agent. Use a grinder or
fi
le to sharpen the auger blades. If you notice
damage to the auger, e.g. bent blades, cavities, bent guide auger, replace the auger with a new one. It is forbidden to use the
damaged auger or extension.
The auger and extension may lose the coating due to friction against the soil. This is a normal phenomenon and should not be
treated as damage to the auger or extension.
