Soft Suspension (Front Fork)
1. Insufficient tire pressure.
2. Insufficient fork oil level or fluid capacity.
3. Incorrect oil viscosity.
4. Weak or damaged fork springs.
Soft Suspension (Rear Shock Absorbers)
1. Insufficient rear tire pressure.
2. Weak or damaged shock absorber spring.
3. Damaged shock absorber.
4. Incorrect shock absorber adjustment.
5. Leaking damper unit.
BRAKES
The front and rear brake units are critical to riding
performance and safety. Inspect the front and rear
brakes frequently, and repair any problem immedi-
ately. When adding or changing the brake fluid, use
only DOT 4 brake fluid from a closed container. See
Chapter Thirteen for additional information on
brake fluid selection and disc brake service.
When checking brake pad wear, make sure the
brake pads in each caliper contact the disc squarely.
If one of the brake pads is wearing unevenly, sus-
pect a warped or bent brake disc or damaged cali-
per.
