Component Identification

3.1 Major Components (Alphabetized)
1) Caliper
Located at the discharge end of the magazine, just behind the injector, the Caliper forms a slot to
permit the separation of one case only. The width of the caliper slot must be adjusted to suit the
thickness of the corrugated material of the case. See Section 7.9.2:
.
2) Case Separator
Located at the top end of the magazine, the Case Separator opposes the magazine pusher in
order to hold the stacked cases securely. The downwards motion of the case separator moves
the end case
DOWN
into the caliper slot, separating it from the rest of the stacked cases.
3) Collar Assembly
Mounted on the mast, the Collar Assembly moves vertically, and supports the case separator
subassembly.
4) Control Transformer
Located in the main control panel enclosure, the Control Transformer converts incoming voltage
to a lower AC voltage suitable for the DC power supply. See the ‘Control Panel Assembly
Drawing’ in the Supplementary Manual.
5) Control Panel Enclosure/Electrical Panel Enclosure
Mounted on the operator’s side of the machine, the Control Panel Enclosure has the touchscreen
interface (HMI: Human Machine Interface) and any other buttons and switches for operating the
machine. It houses the PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and other electrical components.
6) DC Power Supply
The DC Power Supply is a device that delivers 24V DC power for the machine’s control system.
7) Discharge Pusher
The Discharge Pusher is a pneumatically driven assembly that moves horizontally to advance the
formed case out of the major flap folders in the direction of the outfeed conveyor drivebelts for
taping.
8) Dome
The Dome is a small, partly spherical component mounted on the jawplates under the pins. The
dome helps position the case material for proper insertion of the pins into the corrugate flutes for
secure holding.
9) Drivebelts (Side-belt Conveyor)
Two Drivebelts receive cases from the discharge pusher and transport them past the tape
applicator head and out to the (optional) discharge conveyor.
10) Electrical Disconnect
The Electrical Disconnect is the electrical control panel’s main power switch, which can be
padlocked
OFF
for safety.
11) Feedbelts, Magazine
The Feedbelts are two red link belts that support the flat case blanks. Their intermittent
movement causes the cases to move forward towards the forming head for processing.
12) Filter-Regulator Assembly
Mounted on the discharge end of the machine, the main Filter-Regulator unit filters and controls
incoming compressed air. Other regulator assemblies control the mast and jawplate actions.
