14 How to make a drink
Making and setting up a drink consist of a water throw and / or a juice throw.
The factory default setting for the main water inlet is set to 500ml in 15s or 33.3ml/second
14.1 Bottle fill calculation.
Calculation for a 330ml bottle fill would be
𝐵𝑜𝑡𝑡𝑙𝑒 𝑆𝑖𝑧𝑒
𝐹𝑙𝑜𝑤 𝑅𝑎𝑡𝑒
= 𝑇𝑖𝑚𝑒 𝑖𝑛 𝑠𝑒𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑑𝑠 ∶
330𝑚𝑙
33.3𝑚𝑙/𝑠
= 9.9 𝑠𝑒𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑑𝑠
This number is entered in the water throw time to fill a 330ml bottle with water
14.2 Juice setup
A Juice recipe is defined as a water throw and a juice throw.
Juice is normally labeled on the bag in box as a ratio of water to juice as 1:9 or 1+9 or 1 to 9
This indicates a recipe consists of a 1 shot of juice to 9 shots of water:
For the perfect juice drink for a 330ml bottle fill you require a ratio of 1 to 9.
Add the 2 numbers together =
𝑅𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜1 + 𝑅𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜2 =
1 + 9 = 10
This is the total number of parts to make a 330ml drink.
Each part of the ratio is 330ml / 10 = 33ml per part
With this we have 1 part juice = 1 x 33ml = 33ml : and 9 parts water = 9 x 33ml = 297ml
Using the equation above for water
𝐵𝑜𝑡𝑡𝑙𝑒 𝑆𝑖𝑧𝑒
𝐹𝑙𝑜𝑤 𝑅𝑎𝑡𝑒
= 𝑇𝑖𝑚𝑒 𝑖𝑛 𝑠𝑒𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑑𝑠 ∶
297𝑚𝑙
33.3𝑚𝑙/𝑠
= 8.9 𝑠𝑒𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑑𝑠
We have a water throw time for Still+Juice 1 as 8.9 seconds
For the juice throw this a little more hands on with test throws to calculate the flow rate. Every
juice has a different viscosity and so cannot be pre-determined.
To calculate the juice throw set the throw time for juice to 5.0 seconds and perform a test vend
and capture the juice throw only into a measuring cup discarding the water into the waste bucket.
Measure the volume dispensed from the juice bottle and divide by 5.0 seconds
For example, a 5s test vend = 20ml juice as measured.
Therefore, 1ml of juice = 5s / 20ml = 0.25s
Throw time for juice = 33ml = 33ml x 0.25s = 8.25 seconds
