Horizontal empennage
Inspect the top and bottom precast liner of the horizontal stabilizer. Note that each
liner consists of the horizontal stabilizer and elevator liners which were factory molded
into one piece. Identify the top of the stabilizer on the factory labels ( C104T ) and the
top of the elevator ( C104ET ). Identify the bottom of the stabilizer ( C104B ) and the
elevator ( C104EB ). The surface is flat along the span with the leading edge radius of
curvature extended around the nose of the part. The bottom surface has a subtle angle on
the centerline (the taper in the horizontal empennage thickness is all over the bottom
surface generating a slight dihedron when it is installed, preventing the top from
interfering with the hinge axis). remove the

all surfaces and wipe off any residue
on them.
CHANGE THE WRITING IN THE DRAWING!!
Using a felt tip pen Label up and bottom on the inside and outside of the casings by
identifying the top and bottom parts of the horizontal stabilizer and the elevator
respectively. Also place arrows indicating forward (flight direction) on the pieces to avoid
confusion when asking for the front face of one of the members.
