FIGURE - Seat belt attachments (REAR are similar)
The hard-to-front attachment points of the built-in seatbelt back are located in the
lower rear corner of the control sides of the console tunnel. Drill a 1/4 inch hole through
the center of this rigid point, and another 1/4 inch hole vertically down through the bottom
of the fuselage, into the control tunnel area about an interior half inch of the wall, through
the reinforcement BID layer 12 applied in a previous step. Use a large area washer on the
outer surface of the fuselage and a standard washer on the inside and screw securely with
a 1/4 inch screw. (This is a protective shell against all upward force of the belt). Bolt the
appropriate belt end fork with another 1/4 inch bolt, castellated nut and washer
combination through the hard point on the tunnel sidewall, and the castellated nut spanner
to prevent the belt movement from loosening the nut.
The hard spot for the outer belt back section is through the fuselage wall, just ahead
of the main spar. Use a large area washer on the outside of the fuselage (the wing and
fairing mount will cover this area, so there is no requirement for a flush set. Again use
1/4 inch screws, and use a castellated nut and cotter pin to ensure against loosening as the
belt is moved over. The attached figure should help clarify these instructions.
The front seat hard shoulder belt points are on the roof section just behind the corner
of the upper tailgate. Some early kits may not have the hard points installed, and the
builder will have to reinforce this area. cut a piece of inner skin about 1 inch wide and 2
cm lengthwise and insert a section of 1/4 inch thick embedded wood in a FLOX mixture.
Clean and irritate a 1 inch wide area around this cutout and apply a 4 3 inch 4 inch BID
layer. Drill and countersink the outer surface for two #10 - 32 screws.
